The 85th Academy Awards air next Sunday. Finally, you can put those Oscar snubs debates to rest while you enjoy the show — or verbally eviscerate host Seth MacFarlane who may or may not totally suck. All the major “best” categories dominate the golden spotlight, but there’s a lot of talent to be found in the “shorts” group. You can check out this year’s nominees for live-action short films over here. While we wait for February 24, travel back in time to look at ten of the category’s past Oscar-winning shorts. Enjoy these tasty, bite-sized moments from movie history that you can watch with us right now. http://flavorwire.com/371666/10-oscar-winning-short-films-you-can-watch-right-now/

Image via Wikipedia Spread of Fukushima Tweets vs. Radioactive Cloud On 11th March 2011, when Fukushima nuclear reactor blew its top, the community project Webnode noticed a significant increase in new blogs and comments regarding the ongoing situation in Japan. The average daily traffic of this project was almost doubled that day and the amount of new posts increased 3 fold to more than 650 000 comments mentioning the incident. It was soon realized it would be valuable to view the global social interest in the unfolding events surrounding the Fukushima catastrophe. The purpose became to compare and contrast the spread of the radioactive cloud with the viral spread over social networks. 500 Million Tweets About Fukushima Catastrophe Twitter was chosen as the best data source due to its more than 500 000 000 tweets about Fukushima's radioactivity in the last month. http://www.socialintensity.org/#fukushima

Image via Wikipedia Some tracks on our list of the best songs of 2010 were so gorgeous they gave us goose bumps; others rocked our freaking faces off. Some left us blissed out or melancholy, while others propelled us onto the dance floor. The common thread? Each speaks to the kaleidoscopic nature of the musical landscape today, and we're embracing the beautiful chaos with open arms and iPods. We've whittled down the hundreds of tunes that we dug throughout the year to those we think best represent 2010 musically. Dive in, get rocked and here's to 2011 one-upping what has been an incredible year in music. visit the link

What inspires you? The answer to that question can be found in the timeless words of a visionary leader or literary giant, the stunning beauty of historical landmarks and modern marvels, or the fighting spirit and the responsibility to support causes that speak to the very best of what humanity has to offer. Or, all of the above. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2morrowknight/16-people-on-twitter-who_b_541932.html
